BEVERLY JEAN MATHIESON (DEGEAR) July 21, 1937 - December 10, 2015 Loving and beloved wife to Bob, for 51 years, mom to Angie (Bill), and grandma to Eleanor and Isabel; daughter of the late Jessie and Roy Degear. Bev was born and raised in Arnprior, Ontario. She trained as a nurse in Ottawa, working in Arnprior, Pinawa, and Winnipeg, until she had her family. Bev was devoted to her family. She loved being a grandma. She loved animals, enjoyed the companionship of many dogs, and is missed by Daisie. She cherished her friendships, most of many years duration. She loved reading, music and time spent with her bookclub friends. She loved nature, and enjoyed sitting on her houseboat on Lake of the Woods, chatting and watching the lake. Her vacations gave her the opportunity to see wildlife. She loved to walk and spent many years doing her "morning walk", walking many half marathons, and always connecting with people along the way. The last few years of her life were challenging due to Alzheimer's disease. She continued to be grateful for the gifts of family and friends and the companionship of animals. More recently we were grateful for support provided by family doctor Robyn Olson and Wendy, WRHA homecare providers, Grace Hospital, 2 South (Drs Martin and Dillon, and nurses and healthcare aides too numerous to mention), and Pembina Place Personal Care Home. She had a devoted group of regular visitors (Louise, Dar, Cecily, Don, Len, Ed and Thelma) and never spent a day without seeing family and usually friends. Bev was loving, kind, caring, funny, interested, intelligent, and spiritual. She was honest and had a deep sense of responsibility. We miss her terribly, will remember her always, and try to honour her with our choices. A private gathering of friends and family will occur at a later date. Should anyone wish, please honour her memory with donations to St. Mary's Academy, Bursary Fund.
