PROFESSOR EMERITUS JOHN EDWARD COOKE B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., D. Phil (Oxon) Dr. John Edward Cooke, loving husband, father, and grandfather; academic, intellectual, sports enthusiast, great adventurer and outdoorsman; lover of all things delicious or funny, despiser of all things hypocritical or euphemistic, died peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Dr. Cooke is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Cooke (nee Becker); his five children, Tim Cooke (Calgary), Jennifer O'Connor (Winnipeg), Salina Barry (Regina), Catherine Cooke (Winnipeg), and Ted Cooke (Regina); and 15 grandchildren. A private family cremation service was held on Friday, December 11, 2015. Friends and family are invited to A Celebration of John's Life on Saturday, December 26, 2015; 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Winnipeg Winter Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
