RICHARD WAYWOOD Devoted husband, loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend too many; Richard passed on December 15, 2015 in Lethbridge, AB. Richard was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba; the son of Francis and Joseph Waywood. Early during Richard's life he graduated from Saint Paul's College, Manitoba and found employment with Atomic Energy of Canada. Pursuing better opportunities Richard relocated his family to Pincher Creek, AB in 1975. Richard worked as a plant operator at the Shell Waterton Complex and was recognized among his colleagues as an outspoken, passionate employee for his fellow Brothers. He was an active participate within local 835 Union and within years rose to the challenge of President for 25 years. Shortly after his retirement from Shell Canada in 2001 Richard started a successful catering business. Alongside his catering duties he was very active within the local Canadian legion, where he became president. In 1969 Richard made his best decision when he married the love of his life, Linda Maitland. They had a wonderful marriage of 46 years; he had two sons and three grandchildren, all of whom brought him joy and are his most important legacy. Dad, as he was known to his family, was kind, thoughtful, engaging and fun. He lived a life of purpose, loved his family and was loved by them. Richard is lovingly remembered by his loving wife Linda; his sons Richard (Heather), Ryan; three grandchildren Nicholas, Melissa and Madison. He was predeceased by his parents Francis, Joseph and stepfather August Zaluski and numerous Aunts and Uncles. Prayer Vigil will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church (658 Christie Avenue, Pincher Creek) on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 658 Christie Avenue, Pincher Creek Saturday December 19 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Silvano Vargas presiding. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Richard's memory may be made directly to the Jack Ady CancerCentre (960 19th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5).
