TONY (TSUTOMU) FUKUMURA November 9, 1929 - December 9, 2015 Tony passed away suddenly on December 9 and will be missed by us all. He leaves behind his wife Kathleen, his two children Christine and Blair and is predeceased by his youngest, Luke. Tony was born in Vancouver, the second oldest of four children to Kunisaboru (Fred) and Hana Fukumura. Predeceased by his older brother George, he leaves behind Clare (Sam) and Rosanne (Paul), as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. He was an avid member of the MJCCA, the favourite "Uncle Tony", who gave all the toasts to the brides at family weddings. He loved cooking and eating Chinese food and sushi, was a lifelong subscriber to Readers Digest and National Geographic and could often be seen with a Labatt Blue in his hand, or something a little stronger for Friday night drink night. Tony's funeral was held at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Mississauga on December 12, 2015. Interment of his remains will happen this January at Assumption Cemetery in Chapel Lawn, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My condolences to Kay, Christine & Blair. I remember all the wonderful visits with our families as kids. Tony was such a sweet gentleman. I remember my mom (Mary Kirby) and my dad, Bernie Kirby attending their wedding and all the bridge games in our living room. Tony will be in my prayers. - Posted by: Kathy K Kirby () on: Dec 31, 2015

  • I am so sorry to hear of Tony's death. I wish I could have attended the funeral in Mississauga as I live in Toronto. My Mom was very fond of Tony & Kay - I remember her getting all dressed up for their wedding and was quite put out that I (a youngster at the time) was not invited! Would love to be in touch with Kay - joanmflood@gmail.com. Condolences to all. Joan - Posted by: Joan Flood (Kay's 2nd cousin) on: Dec 26, 2015

  • I worked with Tony back in the 80's and found him to be a true gentleman and great conversationalist. He was fiercely proud of his family and taught me to remember the little moments with my kids as they were growing up. My condolences to Kathleen, Christine and Blair. - Posted by: Chuck Asselin (Co-worker) on: Dec 21, 2015
