Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUDOLF ZURSTEGGE JANUARY 1, 1930 DECEMBER 17, 2015 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolf Zurstegge while in the company of his family, on December 17, 2015. Rudy leaves behind loving wife Gertraude, son Robert (Lora Leigh) and grandchildren Jordan and Rhyannne, Also missing Rudy will be his sister-in-law, Christa, with whom he spent every day with before and after going to visit his wife at Middlechurch Personal Care home. Rudy was born in Horstmar, Germany in 1930 and grew up with five brothers and a sister in a very tumultuous time. Rudy followed his soul mate, Gertraude and came to Canada in 1955 with "12 dollars in his pocket". He immediately found work as a painter and they were married a few months later. They saved up enough money to go back to Germany and visit family as well as travel to Mexico and throughout the United States. Rudy was an avid sports fan and loved to curl, golf and bowl. He especially enjoyed going on the many fishing trips with his friends and family. In the early 80's, Rudy joined his brother and started their own company, before finally hanging up his brush in 2000. Rudy loved his grandchildren and was always the first person to give them a flower at their dance recitals or a few bucks to get a Slurpee. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful staff at the Concordia General Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba for the care provided to Rudy and for the assistance provided to the family during this difficult period of time. According to his wishes, Rudy will be cremated and there will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers and gifts, go out and buy the first round. Dad would have wanted it that way. You will be missed.

Bob, Lora Leigh, Jordan and Rhyannne -- thinking of you today when I read in WFP that your dad passed away. I know you will miss him very much but the memories you have will be close to your heart .... every time you enjoy a Slurpee -- every time you see a newly painted room or building. - Posted by: Colleen Olafson ((Marriage Commissioner)) on: Dec 19, 2015
