MARGARET LARKINS (nee Moore) March 26, 1931 - December 16, 2015 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Margaret Larkins on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the age of 84. Mom was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Transcona. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved and cared for them deeply. She was a homemaker and loved to feed the birds, knit, and bake. She amazed us by continuing to bake cookies even after she lost most of her vision. She memorized her recipes and you could always count on fresh cookies at Mom's! She loved to talk on the phone and had maintained many relationships by simply picking up the phone and chatting with friends and relatives both near and far. Mom also enjoyed her friends at the Adult Day Program at Park Manor and looked forward to her Wednesday outing. Margaret leaves to mourn her children: Fred (Barbara), Pat Bain (Dannie), Ray (Cindy), and Sheila Fortier (Ron). Her grandchildren: Jennifer (Eduardo), Philip (Mandy), Alexandra (Joel), Andrew (Teri), Heather (Georges), David (Kelly), Robin, Ricky (Krissy) and Jeffrey; and, her Great-Grandchildren: Ethan, Oscar, Matteo, Nicholas, Olivia, Emily, Connor, and Lucas. She also leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law Mary Moore and Vera Moore, brother-in-law Wally Gresko as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her husband Wally, son Robert, brothers Bob, Earl, David, Russell, and her sister Diana. Mom was independent, strong, loving, and generous. She would faithfully donate annually on the anniversary of Robert's death to: Transcona Memorial United Church, The Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, Concordia Hospital, the Kidney Foundation, the CNIB, the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, and the Winnipeg Humane Society. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street at 11:00 a.m. A private Interment to take place after the luncheon, at the Transcona Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the Doctors, Aides, and Nurses of 2NE of the Concordia Hospital for their exceptional care over the last two months. Your dedication helped to make Mom's passing a peaceful one. Donations in Margaret's memory may be made to any of the charities listed above or to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, another charity favourite of Mom. • I was very sorry to read of your Mom's passing in today's newspaper. It's not so long ago Sheila that I ran into you at Dal's Restaurant with your Mom. Margaret was a lovely lady and I have fond memories of pipe band trips with your parents. In particular, I remember driving to Rivers for a competition with your parents and them joking and singing in the car to pass the time. What a lovely couple and sadly missed! Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you all at this sad time. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and happier times ahead in 2016! - Posted by: Joyce Hooper (Former pipe band member to Ray and Sheila) on: Dec 19, 2015
