GUDNY (GENE) MARIA PALSSON Gene passed away peacefully on December 12, 2015 at the age 87. She was born on August 5, 1928 at Arborg, MB on June 25, 1954. Gene married Wilhelm (Bill) Palsson of Geysir. Bill passed away on October 31, 1988. Left to mourn and cherish her memory is her daughter Kathy, son-in-law Grant Thorsteinson and their children, Corey (Kim), Krista (Richard) and Blair (Kristen). Gene also leaves her two precious great-granddaughters, Leah and Signy. Gene was an incredibly generous person and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly blessed to have such a gracious Amma. Gene is lovingly remembered by her sister Alma Riordan, brother Gordon (Helen) and sister-in-law Svava Sigmar. Gene was predeceased by her parents, Gudjon and Lauga; brothers, Baldur, Ingimar, Norman and Gudjon. Father-in-law Wilhelm Palsson, mother-in-law Asta; sisters-in-law, Inga Danielson, Elleane Danielson and June Siggs; brothers-in-law, John Riordan, Alvin Siggs and Eric Sigmar. Gene was a strong Christian who led a selfless life. Her smile and hugs will also be missed by many. Coffee time was a treat at the farm with her melt in your mouth homemade stone ground Icelandic brown bread, vinetarta and ponnukokur. She devoted her time to caring for others and the last few years were difficult as she would have preferred to remain independent. The family wishes to express gratitude and special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for her, as well as the staff of the Arborg Personal Care Home for their professional and compassionate care.
