Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WILLIAM MAROWITCH June 6, 1944 - December 8, 2015 Peacefully, David, 71, succumbed to his cancer on December 8, 2015 at the Health Sciences Centre, with his longtime love by his side. He was predeceased by his father, Michael (78) in 1995. He is survived by his lifemate, Betty Grafenauer, his mother Jean Marowitch (101), brother Michael Marowitch of Beausejour, sister Janet Nixdorf, nephews Dean and Kirk Marowitch; grandnephew Ryan Marowitch, plus numerous cousins and two aunts. Also by Betty's son Danny Grafenauer. David's career began at a candy factory but his life took on full meaning with his 30+ year employment with the City of Winnipeg's Parks and Recreation Department. His duties included keeping Central Park in pristine shape in the summers. He loved working with children and was awarded a certificate of recognition for his tender treatment of the daycare kids who frequented the park. In the winters, he flooded City hockey rinks and maintained warming shacks at various locations. Early on, he enjoyed being a weekend disc jockey spinning music at weddings and other social functions. In retirement, he invented things including night lights, patio light barrels, and most notably, beautiful wood carved pencil holders that he distributed to everyone, even the mayor. He had a unique sense of humour and loved to laugh and sing. He has been cremated and his interment will take place at a later date with a private family gathering at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. For those who desire, any donation to a children's charity or foundation would put a smile on David's face. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, Come with Me'. Rest in Peace, Dear David.
