LEONARD GEORGE ANDERSON We are sorry to announce the passing of our dear brother, father, grandfather, cousin and friend, Leonard. Len was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1948 to Harold and Marjorie Anderson. Sadly Len lost both his parents when he was very young. He was ten when his dad Harold passed, and 21 when he lost his mother Marjorie. He grew up with the family on Sturgeon Road, attending Little Mountain and Rosser Schools. He loved all sports, both as a player and a fan, but his true love was horses. He spent most of his life training and working at racetracks across Western Canada and the U.S. He leaves behind many friends at Assiniboia Downs. Leonard will be deeply missed by his brother Carl, who cared for him constantly over the past few difficult years. Besides Carl, Len is survived and will be missed by sister Maureen Gros (Bob) of Victoria; his daughters: Theresa Skiba (Darren) Jack and Emily, of Montreal; Gloria Grafstrom (Carl) Abigale, Carl, Avery, Gabriel, of Abbotsford; and Heather Anderson of Abbotsford; cousins and family in Winnipeg and Gimli. Len was a very kind-hearted soul and a friend to many. His kind nature will be missed. A service will be held in Leonard's honor Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Eternal Grace Funerals, 1111 Logan Ave., Winnipeg (Logan and McPhillips) at 3:00 p.m. May there be lots of races where you're going, and may your horse always win.

I am sorry to hear Leonard passed years ago. Always remembered him from Little Mountain School when I started after arriving from England as an 8yr old. He had a horse called Jet with a half diamond on his head. (Carl’s horse was Prince). Leonard told me that when he grew up he was going to have a ranch & call it the Half Diamond Ranch after Jet. I have thought of him & Carl many times over the years (I am now 75). He was a nice boy & the only one I really remember. We were only in Canada for just over 18 months so it shows what an impact the meeting & memory has had on me. I relate his story often to people in my family. Please accept my belated condolences. Sue Hunter P.S. Mrs McCarthur was the teacher. - Posted by: Sue Hunter (Acquaintance ) on: Jan 02, 2025

It was a privilege to know such a kind man like Lenny. The race track could use a lot more horsemen like him. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: bob stremich (friend) on: Dec 20, 2015

I was deeply saddened to learn of Leonard's passing. It has been a long time since the days of Little Moutain, Wentworth and Rosser Schools but I have fond memories of those days, the friends I made and the roles they played in my life. My deepest sympathy to Carl and Maureen and to Leonard's family.....my thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Pat Bilous Millett (Friend) on: Dec 19, 2015

I remember Len in my early youth when he trained my parent's race horses (Joe & Ann Tataryn) I used to help him get the horses ready for the races and walk them from the stables down to the paddock. He was the nicest person that I have ever met, and he always had the biggest smile. My deepest condolences to Carl and to the Anderson family. - Posted by: will tataryn (former horse owner) on: Dec 19, 2015

So sorry to hear of Leonards passing. It seems way too soon. He was a great horseman and racehorse trainer and was fortunate to have lived doing what was his passion. May Gods love carry Carl, his brother, in this difficult time. Forever rest in peace Leonard. - Posted by: Linda Edwards (friend) on: Dec 19, 2015
