GARY STEPHEN HENAULT It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Stephen Henault, age 62, on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Sechelt, BC. With brother Doug and sister-in-law Alison at his side, Gary left us peacefully after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Gary was born in Winnipeg of Roland and Sylvia Henault on March 7, 1953, and grew up and went to school in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. While truly a "Manitoba boy" at heart, Gary always had the wandering bug and spent the last 25 years of his life in Gibson, Madeira and Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. He had a love for tinkering and fixing and was an accomplished vehicle, boat and aircraft mechanic as well as an expert Clocksmith. Gary was a kind and gentle soul who lived a private and modest life, and will be fondly remembered by his mother Sylvia, his brothers Ray (Loraine), Doug (Alison) and Marc (Pam), his daughters Charlotte (Manny), Crystal (John) and Cindy (Robert), his many grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and his long list of friends in Manitoba and on the Sunshine Coast. Gary was predeceased by his father Roland. Cremation will take place in Gibsons, BC, after which a celebration of life for Gary will be held in Winnipeg in early January 2016, in a private family ceremony.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • First I would like to send my sincerest sympathy to all of Gary's family and friends. Gary was a remarkable man, his talents were numerous, he was almost always in a good and positive mood. I had moved to the sunshine coast in 1992 with my family to find a quieter and slower paced life, when I told Gary I was moving he didn't even hesitate, he packed his things and came over with me and he never regretted it. Gary and I kept in touch threw the years and we remained good friends. Gary would often reminisce about his time growing up in Winnipeg and he had fond memories of family and friends. I personally will miss the hour long phone calls and the times I got to spend with a very great man. I will miss you my friend. God Bless. - Posted by: Dave McBride (friend) on: Jan 11, 2016

  • A friend from a long time ago in St Jean then Fort rouge wpg. would think of you every now and then. still remember the winter your motorcycle was parked in the middle of the living room on Arnold. I think that was the street. - Posted by: Claude fillion (friend) on: Dec 26, 2015

  • Sincere sympathy Doug and family on the loss of your younger brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He was much too young to be taken from you but he must be dancing up there in Heaven, free from any pain or worries. - Posted by: Louise Elke (Marion) (old acquaintance) on: Dec 26, 2015

  • My deepest sympathies to Mrs Henault , his brothers and family. The Henault's have a special place in my heart, from the Dad who took me in his plane , to the boys that I had a crush on (all of them). My evenings at the skating rink was allwys special when they came and played snake with all the children there. I pray that you find comfort in each other's company. - Posted by: Mariette collette (Old home town friend) on: Dec 24, 2015

  • My sincerest sympathies on the loss of your brother/son. I have very fond memories of him when we lived in St. Jean Baptiste. Incredible how time goes by so quickly until something happens to make you remember childhood memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I now live in Calgary, Ab and do go from time to time to Manitoba to visit my sister Louise. We are the only two left in our family now. - Posted by: Antoinette (Toni) Plouffe (Friend) on: Dec 24, 2015

  • I have not seen any of the boys since we left St-Jean-Baptiste in 1961. I am very sad at the passing away of Gary. Antoinette (Toni) my youngest sister lives in Calgary. Gilbert passed away in 2004. My husband, Gerry, and I celebrated 50 years of marriage this summer (Ste. Anne, MB). Big hugs to Sylvia, Ray, Doug and Marc. My sincerest sympathies to all of you. - Posted by: Louise Perrin (Plouffe is maiden name) (Neighbour & Baby Sitter for many years in St-Jean-Baptiste) on: Dec 24, 2015
