Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAMOS CHWAIEWSKY With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved Amos has passed away after a lengthy illness on October 30, 2015. Amos was predeceased by his parents Sam (Shlomo) and Jean (Hadassah). He was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, January 14, 1940. Amos will be lovingly remembered by his family, whom he leaves to mourn: his wife Doris; his children Tammy, Leon, Karen and Richard Thomson; and his grandchildren Samuel and Liam Thomson. Also left to grieve are Amos' brother Al and his wife Lynda. After spending most of his childhood in Israel, Amos immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. He continued his education at Aberdeen High School, and after graduating he went on to study to become a certified electrician. After working with CN Rail, Amos joined his father and brother to become part of Chwaiewsky and Sons. Together the three of them built many apartment buildings in Winnipeg. Then the time came for Amos to branch out on his own and over the years he successfully launched two electrical companies, Negev Electric and Soma Electric, in addition to a few other business ventures. Amos had an outstanding reputation as a man with a huge, warm heart. He was kind, clever, funny, generous, and so very loved. He was an extremely dedicated father and stopped at nothing to make sure that his family was provided for. Amos loved his family and adored his grandsons Samuel and Liam, his face would light up every time he visited with them. Our world is smaller without him! Funeral was held Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Lander of Etz Chayim Congregation. Pallbearers were: Alex Chwaiewsky, Richard Bassett, Sheldon Koslovsky, David Stern, Syd Minuk, Jerome Avery, and Honorary Pallbearer; Richard Thomson. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their outstanding care. Donations in Amos' memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
