We didn't see Ken often, but a week or so before he died, we were attending a choir concert at Westminster United, when we heard his distinctive, cheerful voice haling us in the lobby. We proceeded to have a very nice chat with him and felt fortunate that he'd noticed us in the crowd. Then a few days later, we were having lunch with a woman who knew the family from way back, when they were her neighbours on the farm near Halbstadt, and his name came up again. We told her about our recent meeting with him. So, after not having seen him for a couple of years, twice just before he died he re-entered our lives. Ken did a lot of good in the time he spent on Earth. He was generous, curious, inventive, kind, strong, reliable, jovial, and much more. - Posted by: Joe and Lois Braun (Friends) on: Jan 04, 2016

Very saddened to hear of Kens passing. I had lived in one of his buildings for many years and he was always such a happy guy. I fondly remember running into him in the halls, getting talking and then realizing that an hour had passed! Deepest condolences to his family, and his grandchildren of which he always spoke so fondly of. Allyson Tecza - Posted by: Allyson Tecza (tenant) on: Jan 03, 2016

It was an unexpected shock to hear of Ken's passing. I used to work for Ken many years ago when he had his gas station (Texaco I think) on Portage Ave. I was always impressed with Ken's goodness, his work ethic and his caring for my dad's sister Erica (stepmother). He was someone that was worthy of emulation, especially in his kindness to the homeless and downtrodden. A giant has fallen. Hopefully his example will have inspired others in the Winnipeg community to carry on his efforts. My thoughts, prayers and sympathy are extended to those who mourn his passing, especially his immediate family. - Posted by: Ken Dueck (Cousin) on: Jan 02, 2016

My first memories of you Ken was when I first met you at what became our home on Mark Pearse in North Kildonan and I fell in love with you and my love for you continued to grow. Wonderful memories of Moose Lake and you taught me to dive and water ski. Ken you were a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. I was saddened to hear of Ken's untimely passing when I called a mutual friend yesterday to wish him a Merry Christmas. While I had not seen Ken for several decades I remember fondly the good times we had together in our younger years. Ken always had such a wonderful and fun loving personality. I recall a special trip we made together with others to the Canadian Grey Cup in Edmonton in the early '80s.
