ISABELLE DEGEN Peacefully on December 21, 2015 Isabelle passed away at the Grace Hospital. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband Ted, and son Kent. She is survived by daughter Joan (Graham), son Gene (Barb), grandchildren Samantha (Geoff), Erin (Peter), Kitana (Nick), and Owen (Krystal) along with great-grandchildren Summer, Kalvin, Sylas, Zaemia, and Cooper. Isabelle grew up in several small towns in Southern Manitoba as her father was moved around by the CPR. At 17 she became a farm wife, and reveled in the work of gardening and preserving to feed the family, caring for the house, yard, and three children. Economics led to a move to Winnipeg in 1957, and the adjustment to city life. Musically gifted, she met her husband when his group needed a piano player to help entertain at a dance. They shared their love of music throughout their lives, including playing with the Senior Melody Orchestra in their senior years. There will be a private service for family. Donations to a charity of choice may be made in lieu of flowers.

Isabelle was a wonderful, loving woman. I loved listening to the stories she and her husband shared with us throughout the years. I remember them opening up their home to us for a couple of days after we suffered a loss from a house fire. She will be sorely missed and remembered often with kindness and love. - Posted by: Barbara Greengrass (Former Neighbor) on: Apr 19, 2016

Isabelle was such a gifted pianist, by ear or by music. I was thinking of her and Ted today, and the years we played together, the encouragement they gave me, both musically and spiritually. They were fun to be with and I am so grateful to have been a small part of their lives. We used to go to each other's homes and do a little extra music on the side. Always with a few laughs. Thank you Isabelle. Thank you Ted. Two very special people. Love, Mae - Posted by: Mae Stone (Friend and member of The Senoir Melody Group) on: Feb 27, 2016

My sincere sympathy is sent to your families at this sad time. Your Mom was always there to lend a helping hand, listen or just have a great visit. She was a Great neighbor. Sincerely, Doris - Posted by: Doris Gordon (Former neighbor) on: Dec 27, 2015
