JOHN J. DYCK John J. Dyck passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on December 26, 2015 in St. Catharines, Ontario. Born on February 13, 1920, in Einlage, Russia, John immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada through Germany in 1948. He reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Erna Goerzen, and they married in 1948, having three children, Ernest, John, and Marlene. John worked for Monarch Machinery and in later years Palliser Furniture. After Erna's passing in 1980, and nine years as a widower, he met and married Neta Friesen (nee Siemens). They shared 26 lovely years together in the Niagara region, enjoying their grandchildren, traveling, and gardening. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Neta; his son, Ernest, daughter-in-law Shari Taylor and their two sons Joshua and Ethan; his daughter, Marlene, her husband Philip Klassen and their three children, Neve, Riley, and Ellen. Sadly, John was predeceased by his son, John, but he will be fondly remembered by John's children, Nadine, Teresa and Christopher, daughters-in-law, Debbie Martinuzi and Linda Dyck, and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Mennonite Central Committee at http://www.mcc.org/waystogive. The funeral will take place on Thursday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church, 335 Linwell Road, St. Catharines, Ontario. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Sincere condolences to the family. As I recall, John "Hans" worked as a hired hand on our farm part of one summer and one of the jobs was enlarging our cellar under the kitchen. Flossy, our horse, was hitched to a two-handled scoop/bucket, Hans controlled the bucket down in the cellar and Dad handled Flossy outside. Those were the days! - Posted by: Henry Fast (Son of C J & Mary Fast, Kindersley, SK. John was my Mom's cousin.) on: Dec 31, 2015
