CHARLES WILLIAM GINGRAS Charles Gingras, 88, of Antigonish and formerly of Winnipeg, occurred on December 25, 2015, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Born on November 29, 1927, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, he was the son of Elie and Verginie (Lagimodiere) Gingras. Charles was a printer for the Montreal Star and later the Gazette, retiring from the Gazette after a long and successful career. His home life was marked by devoted gardening work. He was a passionate amateur historian, especially concerning his family connections to Manitoba settlers (including Louis Riel). He is survived by his children, Michael (Annette Goring), Antigonish, Charlene Gingras, Sanford, Manitoba, Melanie Gingras, Sanford, Gregory Gingras, Jeffrey Nakonechny, Brandon, Manitoba; grandchildren, Maxime, Monique, and Annice Gingras, Antigonish, and Maurice Gingras, Sanford. Predeceased by daughter, Daphne Gingras; son, Charles Gingras; sister, Leonelle Gingras; and former spouse, Catherine Rita Metail. There will be no visitation or service at this time.
