GEORGE RICHARD ALLEN (RICK) LUCKHURST It is with much sadness we announce that our brother Rick passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, December 19, 2015 at McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay, ON. Rick was born in Victoria, BC, March 26, 1945. He was predeceased by mother Margaret (Fairfield) and father Bill and is survived by daughters, Linzi and Nicole; brothers, Geoff (Margie), Douglas; and sisters, Nancy McCandless (Chuck) and Heather O'Brien (Dennis). Rick grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from Kelvin High School, following which he obtained his BA in French and MA in French History at the University of Manitoba and then spent two years in Aix-En-Provence, France. He returned to Ontario where he spent most of his working years. Rick was a brilliant thinker and writer, also an engaging philosopher, who loved late night discussions and debates on diverse issues. Rick had an understanding of life and in particular one's search for spiritual wholeness. He will be dearly remembered and truly missed by family and friends. A special thanks to the caring staff and nurses at McCausland Hospital for their kindness and compassion. There will be a private family gathering to honour Rick at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
