JOHN (JACK) WINTRUP PEGGIE July 14, 1931 - December 31, 2015 Jack Peggie, 84, passed away on December 31, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Bill and May Peggie and son-in-law Neil. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of over 60 years, Irene; six children, Karen (Scott), Lisa, Jack (Theresa), triplets Susan (Dave), Sharon (Scott) and Sandra; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his sister Mary Phillips. Jack was born and raised in Winnipeg. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, where he played for the Maroons AAAA football team. Jack was very proud when his team (1947 to 1952) was the recipient of the Manitoba High School Sports Hall of Fame Award on October 6, 2009. He enjoyed monthly coffee with his football buddies. A passionate baseball player, Jack played for Norwood in the Greater Winnipeg Junior Baseball League, being chosen to represent his team in the All Star game in 1952. He was an avid Blue Bombers fan and enjoyed watching the Jets with his son Jack. His red hat could always be spotted in the stands at his grandchildren's sporting events. Jack was a member of the St. James Masonic Lodge No. 121 for over 45 years. He was an Associate Bethel Guardian of I.O.J.D. #7. He was also a member of St. James Legion No. 4. Jack worked as a bookkeeper and later in sales. Jack was a proud and private person, a hardworking and dedicated family man with a quick wit and unique sense of humour. He especially loved spending time at his cottage at Sandy Hook. He enjoyed fishing with his children, grandchildren and friends. Family meant everything to Jack. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Aubrey Hemminger. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's name may be made to the McCrorie-West Family Fellowship for Alzheimer Research or a charity of your choice.
