HARRY YEO It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear grandpa and dad Harry Garth Yeo, on January 1, 2016 just days before his 86th birthday. Harry was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy; mom and dad John and Ada; brothers, Tom (Phoebe) and Jack and his sisters, Mary (Bill), Clara (Earl) and Baby Jean. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Danny (Sharlene) and Darryl (Jackie); his grandchildren, Chad (Ashley), Courtney and Amanda; one great-grandson Ryan; sister-in-law Marion and many other family members and friends. Grandpa was born in Belmont, Manitoba in 1930 and lived on the family farm there until he met the love of his life Dorothy and moved to the city in the late 1940's. They were married on July 22, 1950 in Roland, Manitoba in a double wedding alongside his brother Jack and his soon to be wife Marion. He began his working career at Rice Sportswear where he worked as a sewing machine operator. From there he started with General Bakeries as a breadman and retired in the early 1990's from McGavins. Grandpa loved spending time at West Hawk Lake where he and his dad built the family cottage in 1958. Here he would listen to the loons and watch the deer in the yard as he watched the kids and grandkids grow up teaching us all to drive the boat and waterski. He was an avid hockey fan and was ecstatic with the return of the Winnipeg Jets. Grandpa was a very involved member at ANAF 283 as well. A 20 plus year member, here he would play shuffleboard and snooker with friends and family. He made sure he was at every billiards, curling, Taekwondo event or band and choir concert his son and grandkids played and performed in. Grandpa you will be missed dearly and your memories will be held close in everyone's hearts. We would like to give a very big thank you to all the doctors and health care workers at HSC CancerCare, Riverview Rehab Ward 3 West and Charleswood Care Centre. We are very grateful for your work and all that you did for us and our Grandpa. A service will be held in his honour on January 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, following with a reception at ANAF 283 at 3584 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be graciously made to CancerCare Manitoba HSC Department of Psychosocial Oncology. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com
