RONALD ROBERT JONES With great sadness we announce that our dad, Ronald Robert Jones, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at home in Winnipeg, following complications from the flu. Born and raised in Manitoba, Dad was a life-long resident of Winnipeg. Their eldest son, Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Dorothy and Walter Jones. Dad is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathleen; sister Diane Robert (Leo); brother Gordon; son Paul (Lorrie); twin daughters Maureen Jones, Tara Morrison (Kevin); stepdaughter Jennifer Lagimodiere Wiebe (Evan); stepson Glenn Lagimodiere, and 12 grandchildren. Employed with Manitoba Hydro since May 14, 1969, he was scheduled to retire January 4, 2016. Dad looked forward to joining retirement alongside of his two close work friends, Lindsay and Connor. Dad loved the great outdoors. Some of our most treasured times were spent at his favourite Manitoba parks, day trips which were always topped off by a pit stop for ice cream. Dad also loved playing Old Time' melodies on his keyboard, songs introduced to him as a child by his beloved Gram, and noted Winnipeg choirist, Lizzie Jones. Making music brought him joy and healing; as a youth, he even played in a small band for a while. After working for Manitoba Hydro nearly 47 years, Dad looked forward to long, leisurely days of retirement during which he planned to create memories working with wood, gardening, chatting with Skrat' (squirrel), traveling, and exploring' the next hill. Nevertheless, God had other plans. Dad has now graduated to the ultimate retirement' with Christ in heaven. A private family memorial celebration will be held in the new year. We miss you, Dad. We know this is not good-bye, but rather "see you again!"

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So very sorry to hear about Ron. Even though we were not in touch, I also had fond memories of us at family gatherings with Gram singing and playing the piano. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Heather Kirby (Cousin) on: Jan 18, 2016

  • Ron was an amazing man, always a pleasure to work with! You are missed dearly. I still glance over to your parking stall every morning as I drive in, it used to make me feel like "someone was home" waiting for the rest of us to get to work. Now you are truly home. Rest in peace my dear friend. - Posted by: Rose (co-worker) on: Jan 13, 2016

  • Ron was a great guy to work with! Condolences to his family. 2 Cor 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. - Posted by: Bill Lennox (co-worker) on: Jan 10, 2016
