HELEN CLARA KOWALSKI (nee PICHE) July 17, 1931 - January 8, 2016. Helen passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit, in St. Boniface Hospital. Helen's nursing career began at St. Boniface in 1950. She took her love and helped others at Princess Elizabeth Hospital, St. Adolphe Nursing Home, St. Amant and Meadowood Manor, where after many years of caring for others, she retired. Helen loved to have her family around her. Her many acts of kindness and love will be remembered and cherished by her sons Dale (Maureen), Allan (Sandi) and Glenn (Susan); grandchildren Billie, Candace, Megan, Sarah, and Reid, and great-grandchildren Braden, Haley, Camryn and Reese. Respecting Mom's wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial will be held at a later date. If anyone would like to donate in memory of Helen, her charities of choice were CancerCare Manitoba, or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A special thank you to the Palliative Care staff in St. Boniface Hospital, for their compassion and care of our mom. God looked around His garden And found an empty place Then He looked down upon this earth And saw your tired face He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain He knew you never would get well Upon this earth again He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest God's garden must be beautiful He only takes the best.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Cousins Dale, Allan, Glenn and families, thinking of you at this time and remembering your mom and good times in the past. My best memories are the summer I spent taking care of you while your Mom was in the hospital and helping her out once she was home recuperating. The nightly chats over coffee and toast that summer-I got 98 in French the following year. All though we were unable to see each other over the years, you have all been in my heart and thoughts always. Your Mom was one Great Lady who will be missed by more people than you could ever know. - Posted by: Rose Marie Barnett nee Marie Kowalski (Niece) on: Jan 16, 2016

  • The entire family wishes you; the strength to sustain you all during this difficult time and the healing that soothes both mind and spirit. I will miss my yearly visits and phone calls with your Mom.. Those memories of our catching up when we chatted, I will treasure always. Vicky & Tom, Uncle Julien, Marilyn, Laurie, Richard and all of our families - Posted by: Vicky Pickersgill (Neice) on: Jan 15, 2016
