JOHN ARNOLD SCHAEFER 43 days shy of his 100th birthday! No one can say he didn't live a long and fulfilled life. He was a kind and gentle man who worked hard, cherished time with his family and exploring the world. Arnold married the first love of his life in 1946 and was blessed to spend the next 32 years with Doreen (Bassett) before life was cut short. This union produced sons, Lloyd (Gina) and Ian (Julie), granddaughter Ryanne (Sean) Harrison, and great-grandsons Declan and Emmett. Lightning struck twice and Arnold married the second love of his life Joan Thurlbeck in 1984 and spent a glorious 31 years with her. This union gave Arnold three stepchildren, Greg Thurlbeck, Tracy (Angelo) Macchia and Jeff (Caroline) Thurlbeck, and grandchildren Kalyna, Luka, Elorie, Dylan, Sara (Colin), Daniel and Adam. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.
