RUBY EVELYN HOGG
Date of Passing: Jan 10, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUBY EVELYN HOGG After a long and productive life, Ruby Hogg, formerly of Warren, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the age of 100. She was the last survivor of the 14 children of Matthew and Susannah Nichol, a pioneer family who farmed just west of Warren. Ruby was a traditional farm wife, working alongside her husband Bruce following their marriage on December 6, 1934. Their 68 year partnership lasted from the hard years of the great depression to a long retirement in which they enjoyed traveling and visiting with their many friends. Ruby was very focused on her family beginning with her brothers and sisters, through her children Donna (Ernie Webb), Bruce (Pat) and Glenn (Margaret) and later her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. During her many years on the farm she sewed, gardened and cooked with notable success but still had time to participate in the Women's Institute, Red Cross and Warren United Church. Retiring into Warren, Ruby and Bruce wintered in Texas and British Columbia. After she suffered a serious stroke in 2001, they lived in Oakview Place in Winnipeg. Following Bruce's death in 2003, she moved to Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall where she greatly appreciated the visits of her family. At her request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Lodge for their excellent care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in her declining years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge or Warren United Church.
