JUDITH MAE CROSS (nee DANIELS) May 28, 1948 - January 3, 2016 Judith Mae Cross, a most extraordinary wife, daughter, sister, cousin and friend, left us to sing with the Angels on the morning of January 3, 2016, after a brief illness. Predeceased by her loving father Jack Daniels, many are left to mourn the passing of our dear Jude'; husband Howard Cross, so completely devoted to his darling chou-shee'; adored mother Dolores Daniels; brother John (Roz) and children, Heather and John Jr. (April) and their daughter Kate Marie; special cousin Bonita (Barry) and son Jason; Howard's children, whom she cherished; Paul (Michelle) and children, Callum and Madeline of Canmore, AB; daughter Brenna (Joel) and children, Gus and Reuben of Pine Falls, MB; Darcie (Jerry) and children, TJ and Dawn Marie of Wuhan, China; also Aunt June, Uncles, Bob (Shirley), Bud (Audrey), cousin Joan (Jay), all of their children and many more cousins, family members and friends, especially lifelong friend Chris Warkentin. Judy obtained her BA at the U. of M., graduating on the Dean's honour list. She enjoyed a long career at the CBC, where she met special pal Kym Dopheide. When Judy retired, she managed her husband's career as a pediatric dentist. Judy helped guide Howard's children into adulthood with a firm but loving hand, they felt she was a true mom and wonderful grandmother to their children. Her niece and nephew also treasured her caring guidance. Judy embraced life; music, travel, cooking, entertaining, observing nature in her garden. She was a defender of the underdog, unwavering in her beliefs, fiercely devoted to family, friends and Faith. We would like to thank Emergency and 5th floor staff of 7 Oaks Hospital, Cropo Funeral Chapel and dear friend Fr. Bohdan Lukie C.Ss.R., who conducted her private service. In Judy's memory, please consider donating to the Winnipeg Humane Society. 2 Timothy 4: 6-8 "The time is here for me to leave this life. I have done my best in the race. I have run the full distance, and I have kept the faith. And now there is waiting for me the victory prize of being put right with God."

What a wonderful picture! It captures her essence for me. Smart, confident, talented, warm, generous , caring and yet a rebel without cause. At U of M, Judy starred in the first movie production of "And no birds Sing". Just one of her quiet accomplishments. When she headed off to Europe in the early 70's with Chris (nee Dilay) it was leading edge. One of her favorites (J Joplin)was gone but Magee Mae filled the void that winter. On her return Jude was appointed an aide to then Minister of Defense in Ottawa. (the right Honorable James R Richardson) Outside of the PM office, that's as high as it gets in Canada. Living in Ottawa, with the wet horrible winters, going to laundermats, riding in a VW bug, and occasionally dining at Mama Teresa's on Somerset with a Valpolicella was her life. Its obvious her tastes and appreciations , like the wines, improved with age. No long was Mouton Cadet the only cabernet. Judy handed life's disappointments as graceful as her wins. In the end she was a huge winner with Howard. It was wonderful to see her family and friends at the service. Judy was so deserving of all the love and devotion. She earned all of it. Rest in Peace! With love, ps Dear Jude, Although his message is no longer up on line, Richard Forsely remembered you. Where ever you are Richard, thank you, Ian - Posted by: Ian MacIver (very special life long ) on: Jan 30, 2016

How saddened we were to learn of Judy's passing. Howard, please accept our sincere condolences. I (Marilyn) especially remember Judy sharing the story with me of how you and she met taking out the garbage at the apartment building where you both lived. May all the happy memories you and Judy shared sustain you, Howard. It's a beautiful life but unfortunately it's sometimes too short. - Posted by: Wally and Marilyn Jackson () on: Jan 16, 2016
