STANLEY MATWYCZUK 1963 - 2016 With deep sadness in our hearts, we mourn the passing of Stanley (Stan) Matwyczuk, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend. Stan passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 52 years. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Andre Matwyczuk. Leaving to cherish Stan's memory are his life-partner and dearest friend Tony (Tony's sister Rose and her children Brendon, Savannah and Aalayah); his daughters Kelsey (Devin, daughter Addison) and Kaitlyn; his siblings Anna (Glen, son Brent), Sonia (David, daughter Jill, husband Tim and their children Olivia and Owen), Sandra (Riel, sons Terrel and Riley), Taras (Linda, children Derek and Alexa); Andy (Tannis), Roman (Rennie) and cousin Myron. Stan grew up in the north end as the youngest in a large family. He graduated from St. John's High School and immediately went on to complete an arts degree at the University of Winnipeg. While working on this degree, Stan was also able to acquire a business administration diploma from Red River College. Upon entering the workforce, he found time to return to university to complete his Chartered Professional Accountant designation. Stan enjoyed a satisfying career at Manitoba Hydro for 23 years, where he made many connections and friends. Although it seemed Stan was forever busy, he always found time to pursue his passions. These included spending quality time with his daughters and more recently his granddaughter Addison, entertaining and sharing laughs with his family and friends at his cabin in Grand Beach, playing league squash and travelling the globe. His favorite destinations were Las Vegas and the Philippines which he had the opportunity to visit numerous times. Stanley was a devoted family member who did not hesitate to assist family members when called upon. He gave much of his time to others and asked for little or nothing in return. Although Stan was the youngest sibling he was also the voice of reason and sensibility. When good advice was needed, "Stan was the Man". As he watched over us while on this earth, we take comfort in knowing that Stan will continue to be our guardian angel. He will forever hold a place in the hearts of all those who loved him. Viewing will occur on Tuesday, January 19th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a memorial service and reception to follow on Wednesday, January 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In respecting Stan's wishes, cremation will take place after the service and interment will occur at a later date. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to CancerCare Manitoba and its staff for the exceptional standard of care provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.

  • We will miss Uncle Stan so much. The words "Stan the Man" is sincerely true, it did not matter what questions we had for Uncle Stan he was always able to answer and help anyone and everyone out. Whether it was a question about taxes, buying a new vehicle or a home. If Uncle Stan didn't know the answer he did the research to find out how to help out. You will truly be missed. Forever in your hearts. - Posted by: Jill Volk (Niece ) on: Jan 17, 2016
