MARGARET FERN BALDWIN 1918 - 2016 On Friday, January 15, 2016, Margaret passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 97 years, after a gradual transition from this life to the next. Margaret was born on January 24, 1918, in Thunder Bay, Ontario to Alice and Newton Burgess, and raised on a farm in Invermay, Saskatchewan. All her life intending to become a nurse, she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to a thoroughly enjoyable experience in residence in the nursing college at St. Boniface Hospital and graduated as a Registered Nurse. On June 5, 1943, Margaret married her first husband Stewart Graham Ogilvie in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her two younger brothers, Robert and William Burgess; and her first husband Graham on July 25, 1974. Her destiny to live in a world of males continued with having three sons. Margaret married Russell Baldwin in 1976 in Winnipeg and retired from her profession as Head Nurse at Tache Hospital. Always a caring person who loved the nursing profession, she was instrumental in keeping her nursing classmates in communication and supported hospitals with her time and talents throughout her life. Marg and Russ lived in various locations in Manitoba and British Columbia. For many years they spent winters in Indio, California, where they made many friends and Marg developed a hobby painting desert landscapes. Travel interest led them to many extended trips to various parts of Europe and Mexico. Our beloved mother is survived by sons, Bruce (Constance) of Calgary, Donald (Myrna) of Vancouver and Gordon (Diane) Ogilvie of Winnipeg; stepchildren, Warren (Laurel) of Winnipeg, Janice (Kurt) of Squamish and Bradley Baldwin of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In compliance with Margaret's wishes no formal Funeral Service will be held. She will be laid to rest near her parents at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg. Special thanks to the nurses and staff on the fourth floor of Golden West Centennial Lodge where she received skilled care since 2008. Margaret had an easy-going manner that endeared her to all that knew her, and her sons and their wives could not have wished for a more supportive mom nor her grandchildren, for a more loving grandma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
