SHIRLEY LORRAINE OSBORNE On Monday, January 18, 2016, Shirley Osborne passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. Shirley is survived by her son Brian Osborne; daughter-in-law Barbara Zimrose; granddaughter Isabel Osborne Zimrose; sister Wilma Marsch; brother Eric Sly (Maureen), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim Osborne; daughter Lynn Chambers; parents Andrew and Violet Sly; sisters Hazel Smith, Florence Couillard and Thelma James; brothers Raymond Sly and Elwood Sly; brothers-in-law and good friends Walter Marsch and Don James. In 1935 Shirley was born in Neepawa, and moved to Winnipeg at age four. In 1955 she married her husband Jim, subsequently becoming a loving mother to Brian and Lynn. Shirley was employed for many years at the Health Sciences Centre, Radiology Department retiring in 1996. Over the past few years when receiving care at the Health Sciences Centre it was amazing to see all her old co-workers visit and greet her with well wishes. Upon retirement she enjoyed the company of many friends, travelling regularly to the USA on bingo bus tours. The final chapter of Shirley's life was that of a proud grandparent. She shared many special days with Isabel, playing house' under her dining room table, dancing to Abba, watching movies and making up funny stories about fictional characters. Shirley was a very friendly and caring person; it was always exciting to see and hear all of her pictures and stories (which she proudly shared with her homecare workers and the staff of Riverview). Also, Shirley was quick witted and sharp-minded. She loved card games and bingo, and watching and reading mysteries. Equally, she would willingly lend an ear to someone in need. Shirley was also a great baker and over the past couple of years with failing health there were many people missing her Christmas trays that she liked to share with everyone. We would like to thank the staff of 3 East at Riverview for all their kindness and care provided to Shirley over the past few months. At Shirley's request there will be no formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Dear Brian and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. She was always such a pleasure to be around - so much fun!. She was also a wonderful source of support when my Father was sick and passed. My Mom and I really appreciated her 'giving' personality. I am so sorry for your loss. Your cousin, Laura - Posted by: Laura Sly (niece) on: Mar 22, 2016

Sorry to hear of your mom's passing, Brian. I vividly remember her sitting at command central upon my many visits to your home. How she always kept a full dish of chocolates for me, provided me baking to take home and hundreds of suppers for a broke bachelor. To this day I still don't put my feet up on anyone's coffee table thanks to a lesson and many reminders from Shirley. Thinking of you, Ozzy, Barb and Isabel during this difficult time Jim - Posted by: Jim and Liette Lewis (friend) on: Jan 24, 2016

Shirley was not only a dear neighbor but a wonderful friend. I'm going to miss her and so is the neighborhood she occupied for decades. - Posted by: Zoe P (Neighbor) on: Jan 24, 2016
