NICK MARKS On Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, aged 71. Nick was born in The Hague, The Netherlands and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1956. Beloved husband of Sheilagh Ryan and loving father of Vanessa (John Fitzgerald), Kendra (Andrew Lowe) and Alison (Clarke Peters). Dear brother of Jake Marks and Paulina Boulet (Wayne MacDonald). Loving opa of Liam, Joshua, Rory and James Peters; Tara, Ellen and Kieran Fitzgerald; and Freya and Edith Shaw. Uncle to Michael Boulet, Jacqueline Willson, and Jake Marks. He loved his family deeply and expressed that love regularly through his words and actions. Nick spent his entire career in the employee benefits field, where he put his quick mind and sparkling wit to good use. Regardless of his specific role within that industry, his intent was always to maintain his integrity and treat his colleagues and customers with respect, honesty, and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish, donations in Nick's memory to the Molly and David Bloom Chair in Multiple Myeloma Research through The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Nick and Perry worked together in Hamilton in the early 1970's. Nick was a mentor to Perry and a close friend. Together with Peter Foley of Ottawa they were the three young musketeers learning the benefits business together. Nick was very savvy and accomplished for his age and was a real thoughtful guy. We spent a lot of time during those years with Nick and his young daughters. We lost touch with Nick when we moved back West in 1974. But Nick was often in our thoughts. This is why recently learning of Nick's passing was such a surprise. Rest in peace old friend. Nick and I shared many high school events together. I taught him to play badminton and he taught me to play chess. We both ended up tops in our respective divisions. God bless you Nick and your families. You were a great buddy.
