VERNA MAY TRIBULA (nee BRAUN) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Verna (aka Drama') on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Born on January 15, 1939 in Altona, Manitoba she is survived by her three children Scott (Tami), Colin (Sue) and Jennifer (Ron), grandchildren Alyson, Matthew, Jonathon, Erin and Kate, step-grandchildren, Mathew, Sean and Jesse, sisters Shirley (Walter), Grace (Henry), brothers Gordon (Geertje), Dennis (Deanna), sister-in-law Cheryl, many nieces and nephews and her special furry friend Gus'. Predeceased by her parents Abe and Justina Braun and brother Ken Braun. Along with her kids, Verna's passion in life was her career as a nurse. She worked at the St. Boniface Hospital for over 40 years with a special interest in ICU and cardiac surgery developing the patient teaching program for cardiac surgery and she volunteered with Doctors Without Borders traveling to Peru to work in the operating room. She touched the lives of many patients always coming home with gifts and letters of thanks. Verna loved to travel, recently enjoying a trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico, she had a special fondness for the Canadian Rockies and England. She had a great passion for music, singing and playing classical music on the piano and watching sports, especially the Blue Jays and Winnipeg Jets. In her last few months, she loved lounging under the grape trellis watching the humming birds and cuddling with Gus. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. For those not able to attend, a champagne garden party in Verna's honour will be held in the summer under her grape trellis. Special thanks to her palliative care team, especially Trish and Rosa, the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit and her amazing doctor, Elizabeth Giesbrecht. Verna wished to let her friends and family know how very grateful she was for their special visits, support and love during her final journey.
