ERMA HAMILTON 1922 - 2016 On Sunday, January 10, 2016, Erma peacefully left us in her sleep at the Middlechurch Nursing Home at the age of 94. Erma was predeceased by her parents Edward and Elizabeth, brothers Ross and Tom, and sisters, Effie, Mildred, Eva, and Alice. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Erma was born in Winnipeg January 3, 1922 and lived most of her life at 603 Garwood Ave. The Boulton Retirement Residence was home until July of 2014. Erma's working career was with the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company (HBMS) in Winnipeg. For a few years she worked in Toronto for HBMS when they relocated their Corporate headquarters. She retired from the company and returned to Winnipeg in 1987. She was a member of the UCW Circle 6-13 at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church for 50 plus years and a member of the Queen Esther Rebecca Lodge #2 for many years. Special thanks to the staff at Middlechurch Nursing Home Station D1 for their care and compassion. Erma's wish was to have her body accepted by the Department of Human Anatomy at the University of Manitoba for Medical Research. Her request was approved and accepted. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, Wardlaw Avenue and Nassau Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anatomical Research Fund c/o University of Manitoba, 130 Basic Science Building, 745 Bannatyne, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0J9, the Crescent Fort Rouge United Church or a charity of your choice.

  • Erma was a great 0person to work with while I was at HBM&S. She had a great relationship with her co-workers and all her family. Her family meant a great deal to her and I am sure all the nieces and nephews will miss her. My sympathies and condolences to all of you!
