GITTA FOX Peacefully, on January 24, 2016 Gitta Fox (nee Luxenburg) passed away at the age of 92. Gitta was born in Kinpolung, Romania on March 29, 1923. After the war, as a holocaust survivor, she met and married Yidel Fox in Romania in 1947. They moved to Israel in 1948 and immigrated to Canada in December, 1952. She had a life filled with hardships but was always a happy person as in her own words, "she chose to be happy". She will be remembered by family and many friends as very kind, generous, and feisty. Those that knew her will always remember her amazing baking. She was a very special "Bubbie" who took great pride in keeping a kosher and spotless home. Gitta was predeceased by Yidel, her husband of 43 years, and her twin sister, Regina who resided in Israel. She is survived by her son, Arthur (Sheila), and her loving grandchildren David (Dana) and Jacqui. She will also sadly be missed by many nieces and nephews. Gitta spent the last three years in the Simkin Centre and never complained. Although she began to experience Dementia, she was still able to remember her family and was always delighted to see us. She was thankful for all the assistance she received from the staff and was especially fond of the food. We wish to thank the staff of the 3rd floor Weinberg wing for their excellent care along with very special thanks for the warm and personal care given by Roma and Sonya. Interment was held on January 26, 2016 at the B'nay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Fox, Art Maister, Harry Maister, Steven Meltzer, Vittorio Rossi, and Ken Zelickson.
