JUNE SALTER (WYLIE) 1936-2016 June passed away peacefully in Victoria,B.C. with family by her side, on January 19, 2016 at the age of 79. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bob, she is survived by her family, daughters, Carol (Gary), Susie (Gord), Pamela (Scott), son Rob (Peggy); grandchildren, Sean (Maegan), Adam (Colleen), Bethany, Lucas, Travis (Maria), Brock, Carly, Chelsea, Cole; great-grandchildren, Maverick and Jack; sisters Grace and Pearl; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, great nieces and great nephews. June was born in Winnipeg. She grew up on Inkster Boulevard, living with her mother, grandmother, Uncle Chuck, and sisters Grace and Pearl. June attended Luxton Elementary School and later went to St. Johns. She met her future husband Bob when she was 13 years old. June married Bob in 1954 and they started their family in 1956. They had four children Carol, Susie, Rob and Pam. June worked at many jobs over the years including the Grain Exchange, Middlechurch Care Home, and West St. Paul School. June and Bob lived most of their child rearing years in the Municipality of West St. Paul. June was involved in many local activities and was always the first to volunteer if help was needed. Some examples include the Manitoba Centennial Committee and coaching girl's baseball. June loved curling and enjoyed competing in bonspiels, winning many trophies. June and Bob hosted many pool parties on Willis Road which were always enjoyed by friends and family. They moved to Sooke in 1986 when they retired. June was an outgoing, caring, spontaneous person. She always had a smile, kind word, or joke for everyone she met. Her smile would light up a room. It was not unusual to see her dressed up giving "A Toast to the Haggis" or in costume singing as Tina Turner. She was quite the character!! In her later years, June belonged to the "Red Hats", the Sooke Legion where she played shuffleboard, and attended the "Widows Lunch Group". She was a devoted Vancouver Canucks fan, but always had a special place in her heart for the Winnipeg Jets. She will be greatly missed by her family and many wonderful friends. A Celebration of June's Life will be held on April 10, 2016 at the Sooke Legion Branch #54 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Sooke Hospice.

Carol, Susie, Pam, Rob, and family...I am deeply sorry for your loss. The world is a little darker without your Mother June in it that's for sure. I am Bryna's Daughter, Lisa. As you know, our Mothers were childhood best friends in Winnipeg, and although over the years, distance separated them, their friendship remained close until my Mother's untimely passing in 1999. June was truly a wonderful person, and we can all be at peace knowing that she is with your Father and her Friends. May her memory be for a blessing. Mrs.Salter was a nice lady, always smiling and upbeat. I went to school with Pam and Robbie at West.St.Paul School and my Mum Ann Kowaluk made one of her girls wedding dress. She always had a great sense of humour. - Posted by: KEN kOWALUK (Church member) on: Jan 31, 2016
