CARLYLE ALEXANDER MACDONALD It is with loving hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carlyle Alexander MacDonald, at the age of 86, on January 26, 2016, in Gimli, Manitoba. Left to cherish his memory is his sister Wilda Coxe, brothers George MacDonald and Bryan McDonald, and many nieces and nephews. Carl was born on July 27, 1929 in Ochre River, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his father John Archibald McDonald, mother Gladys Enid McDonald, brothers Wilfred, and Douglas, sister Doreen, and lifelong friend Duncan McKellar. Carl will be forever remembered for his charitable, loving and kind heart. He had many friends and touched all those he met with his generous nature. He loved meeting new people, was a gifted storyteller, skilled historian and had a passion and love for animals. His generous and sincere interest in others created many lifelong friendships. Carl always played a special role at family gatherings, from sharing stories, saying grace and by connecting with every family member from the oldest to the youngest. Carl spent the majority of his career with Air Canada and then took over the "Falcon Restaurant" in 1967, in Gimli, Manitoba. The restaurant became a local favourite gathering place for family and friends. Finally, after many years of good times serving the community and hard work, Carl retired and continued to enjoy a wide variety of activities and interactions with family and friends in Gimli and Winnipeg. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and residents at the Betel Home Foundation in Gimli, Manitoba. In keeping with his wishes, a cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at the Aspen Park, 134-A Maple Street on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Gimli, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

A lot of loving memories of Uncle Carl from serving us Shirley temple drinks at the Falcon restaurant. So many enjoyable visits at his cabin in Sandy Hook. Always someone I respected and looked up to. Will miss him dearly. Love Todd - Posted by: Todd McDonald (Nephew) on: Feb 05, 2016

We are very saddened by the loss of Carl. He was a very dear man. Visited us at Chicken Chef in Gimli all the time. I don't know what we would have done without his help at our busy times at work. We could always count on Carl helping us out. It was a delight to have known him. Love you Carl. - Posted by: Sharon & Jim Danielson (Friends) on: Feb 03, 2016

Karl was a very special person with whom I had the pleasure to work with for many years at YWG (Wpg Airport). He always had something to say to make us laugh and ease difficult days. He made a great Santa at Pat Hudgins yearly Christmas dinner, even when he wasn't feeling well. I will always remember him with fondness. A sweet, dear, happy person. He will NOT be forgotten. - Posted by: Rosemarie (Mohr) Muzyka (Old friend) on: Feb 02, 2016

Carl was a very dear old friend. He always had a wonderful story to tell and all my children loved his Shirley Temples at the Falcon. Many great memories of Carl, Duncan and Gladys. - Posted by: Lenore Bridge (Old friend) on: Feb 02, 2016
