WALTER DIRKS Peacefully, on January 28, 2016, Walter passed away in the comfort of his home, at the age of 87 years. Walter was born in Carman in 1928, and his family later moved to a farm northwest of Elm Creek. It was here, in 1946, that he met the love of his life - Susan, to whom he was married for 67 years. Left with cherished memories are his wife, Susan; his two sons, Derek and Patrick; his grandchildren, Isaac, Lily, Riley, Emily and Melissa; and his siblings, Sophie, Clara, William and Henry. Funeral services will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing prior to the service. I first met Walter when I was 15yrs old. My dad, Steve Murowski, got me a summer job with Westburne plbg and htg wholesale. Walter and Steve work together for over thirty yrs. I always enjoyed Walters company, he had a huge heart and always led be example,his ethic was second to none. He was a very physically strong person, he could do the work of men much bigger the himself. I will miss Walter very much, I was truly a privileged a have known Walter and to be able to call him a friend.
