We were shocked at the speed with which we lost Gerald. I had hope to drop in for a visit during my last trip to Winnipeg, but unfortunately we had to postpone it at the last minute. Cathy, Mellisa, and Sara, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in peace Gerald, you were a great husband, father, and an excellent friend, and will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Ed & Becky Weedmark (Co-Worker) on: Feb 06, 2016

It is with tremendous sadness and shock to hear of Gerry's passing. We go back 42 years to the Transcona Bowling Alley. That's hard to say...42 years. I have always had respect for Gerry as my first mentor in my working life at 13 years old. In the past few years we would often run into each other in the O'Hare airport in Chicago. We'd laugh that we would see more of each other in Chicago than Transcona. Of course in Transcona we lived many...blocks away. I last saw Gerry and the family at the Saturday Legion meat draw a short time ago. Had I known it would be the last time I'd see my old buddy, I would have given him one last hug and thanked him for a lifelong friendship. My sincerest apologies to the family for not attending the service today as I am stuck in BC on business travel. There are tears on my computer as I write this note. My thoughts are with y'all at this very difficult lime. - Posted by: Kevin Candline (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2016

When I volunteered at the Polar Plunge last Saturday, I was talking with Melissa about her family. Although I could not stay for the gala dinner that night, I had fun representing the Winnipeg Region at the Polar Plunge as Melissa and I talked about climate change in regards to global warming. Melissa, I am very shocked to find out that your dad passed away after asking you what your parents do for a living. May this time of sorrow lead you on the path to each new tomorrow. - Posted by: Philip Bialk (S.O.M. Athlete Ambassador - Winnipeg Region) on: Feb 05, 2016

Another one of the good ones, I was a year behind Gerry at school, but really got to know him working for Chuck at the bowling alley, I might have even bowled a better game than him once in awhile. All though I haven't seen Gerry for a few years, he will be missed, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Gerry - Posted by: Rob L (School, Transcona Bowling Lanes) on: Feb 05, 2016

I was so so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. He was a very friendly person and a good neighbour. He always had a smile and a few words for anyone passing by. And he was most definitely hard working; his yard was always kept so nicely. You could hardly ever pass by the house without seeing him out in the yard doing something. My sincere condolences to the whole family. - Posted by: Leslie Young (Neighbour ) on: Feb 05, 2016
