Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA JOSEFINA (MIA) VAN REENEN January 11, 1939 - January 29, 2016 Peacefully, on January 29, 2016, Mia passed away at Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Ruurd (Rudy/Dolf) in 2003. She leaves to treasure her memory her children and grandchildren: Mary-Ann (Gerry) Deroche, Ryan, Nyssa; John, Catherine, Melanie (mom - Connie); and Liz. Relatives in Holland also remember her; sister-in-law Aartje Beelen (Lei) and family in Winnipeg. Mom always had a friendly hello and a smile for everyone she met. Rarely did she complain about anything in life. She accepted things easily, lived in the moment, and had a gift for laughing at silly things. Mom was happiest when helping others. She was actively involved in her social club at Riverside Plaza, volunteering on various committees. Her favourite "unpaid job" was at Concordia Hospital, in the gift shop. She volunteered there for 25 years. Thanks to Concordia staff for taking excellent care of her in her hospital stay. Thanks to everyone who showed Mia love through visits, cards, rides to appointments and home-made meals. She appreciated every kindness. Thanks, Mama Mia, for the love, laughter and a lifetime of memories. You will live on in our hearts. Donations may be made to Concordia Hospital Foundation.

Mia was such a wonderful and joyful person to be around. I spoke with her at least once a week until she got sick and was hospitalized. I met with her at least 1 time per month when she took her bus trip out hereto South Beach casino . I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.
