Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA MABEL MILNE November 11, 1931 - February 5, 2016 Leona Mabel Milne (nee Erickson) passed away on February 5, 2016, at Arborg Personal Care Home. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Alton; siblings Hannah (Bill), Bill (Linda), Ida, and Ed (Loretta); children Judith, Tim (Kim), Robin (Margie), Sharon (Doug), Diane (Mel), Eileen (Tim), and Marilyn (Pete), 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two siblings Jack and Doris, one grandchild Richelle, and one daughter-in-law Sharon. Leona was born on November 11, 1931 to Joe and Alice Erickson in Sprague, Manitoba. Leona grew up north of Sprague going to the Golden Branch School. She married the love of her life, Alton Milne at the young age of 19. Shortly thereafter, they started making a loving family of seven with the birth of their oldest child Judy. In her lifetime Leona carried many titles; manager and cook at Border Esso, she started her own daycare in Sprague, worked as a health care aide in Roseau, she cooked and cared for many people including the kids at Green Pastures and the train gangs at CN Rail. When Alton and Leona moved to Winnipeg she worked as a Home Care Aide. With all the titles that she carried in her lifetime, all were dedicated to the love and care of others. Leona's most prized title was wife. Her relationship with Alton was before all else, Alton was the love of her life. She also loved being a mother, she loved her seven children dearly. If you could define Leona in one word it would be Love. Another title that she gave priority to was grandma. With the birth of each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her heart grew more and more. When one would visit Leona, it would not matter what she was doing, she would drop it to make sure that you were comfortable, well fed, and would make sure you knew you were the most important person in her life in that moment. The love of Leona was great and will not be quickly forgotten and always missed. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 445 Lagimodiere Blvd. There will be a private family interment to follow The family would like to give the greatest gratitude to the staff at Arborg Personal Care Home, they made Leona's last years very comfortable and loved her very much. The family would also like to thank the doctors that gave care, and the kind staff at Glen Lawn Funeral Home for all their support in this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arborg Personal Care Home would be appreciated. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

The first time I met Leona I was age 4 in Vassar, Mb.The Full Gospel Church Community in Sprague heard there was a family from Sweden that had moved in. They brought a breath of fresh air with them Soon we started attending chuck with them. Leona & the entire family demonstrated love toward us. I loved being there. Then in my teens I lived w / Leona, Alton & family when I worked at Border Esso. I was treated as one of the family. I loved living w / them. Leona's smile and arms held me on many occasion. It became my home. The entire family felt like my own. Leona's love for the Lord attracted me to accept Jesus into my heart. It is because of Leona I am following Jesus today. - Posted by: Kristina Delblanc Howell (A daughter in The Lord.) on: Feb 10, 2016

Auntie Lee was one of the foundational mother figures in my life from the day I was born. all of my early memories have her in them! She and Uncle Alton supported us in missions for decades, even though they could not afford it and we suggested it was beyond their capacity. I will miss her, but how I rejoice to know that she is with so many loved ones now and free from this world's pain. - Posted by: Denie Heppner ("daughter" from another mother) on: Feb 09, 2016

Leona was truly a gem. The first thing I thought about when I heard of her passing was how kind and good she was to us when we stopped at the Milnes in Sprague either on our way to Winnipeg or on our way home to Finland, ON. Our sincerest of condolences to Alton and the family for the loss of your dear wife and mother. - Posted by: Lawrence & Simone Burnell Rasmussen (cousin) on: Feb 09, 2016
