KURT WILLI HELLMANN March 14, 1926 - February 6, 2016 It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Kurt Hellmann, on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 89 years. Remaining to forever cherish Kurt's memory are his wife of 61 years, Adelgunde; daughter Karyn (Mick); son David (Lisa); grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa), Ian, Matthew and Ryan; sister Christa and her family in Germany; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister. In 1953, Kurt emigrated from Germany to Canada, where he met and married Gunda in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1954. Together they built a life full of devotion to God. Kurt loved to sing and he sang in the church choir for many years. He gave of himself in every way selflessly to his cherished family, friends and neighbours. Kurt worked as a custodian at the University of Manitoba until his retirement in 1988. He and Gunda enjoyed travelling with many trips made to Germany, Poland, Hawaii, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic and all over Canada. On Tuesday, February 16, 2016, Kurt's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba with Pastor Bjoern Meinhardt presider. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Highway #1 East @ Navin Road. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Unit 1 at Seven Oaks Hospital for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut Street, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1N9 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My condolences to the family, Kurt will be surely missed. Heaven has gained a kind and gentle soul. I am certain he is already sharing his stories of all his travels; with a quick smile and a twinkle in his eye. That is how I will remember him. RIP Kurt - Posted by: Barb McDougall (Family Friend) on: Feb 13, 2016

  • So sorry to hear about Uncle Kurt. My condolences to you Tanta Gunda, Karen and family and Dave and Family. I remember all the family dinners that were held in your home. Many a good time and fantastic meals. It was a meeting place of all the families. It was much appreciated. I remember Uncle Kurt's laugh with his head tilted back as we hit the balloons around the room trying to keep the balloon from falling on the floor. You are all in my thoughts. Take Care - Posted by: Dale Desjardine () on: Feb 10, 2016
