Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH ELMAR MASSEY February 28, 1931 - February 6, 2016 With a ready smile, a twinkle in his eye and the ability to put his hand to anything that needed fixing, Ken Massey will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Ken had a profound love of family, a ready laugh and was incredibly organized, maintaining detailed financial records and immaculate tool shelves. He also made it a mission in life that visitors would never find a single snowflake on his sidewalk in winter! But two things about Ken were apparent to all. One was his capacity to give unconditionally; no matter what the need or what the hour, he would be there. The second was his smile, as warm and gentle as a summer breeze, a manifestation of the spirit of the man himself. After his struggle with Parkinson's disease and dementia, Ken passed away peacefully with family at his side, at the age of 84, while residing at Donwood Manor. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Maud; daughters, Sandra Massey-Clark (Randy) and Donna Massey-Cudmore (Neil); and his three grandchildren, Garrett (Cassandra), Jessica (Geoff) and Ben (Alee). Also his sisters, Helen Richert and Cecilia Massey and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Phillip and Cecil; and parents, Ted and Mary Massey, of Selkirk. Ken spent his working life at Weston's Bakery, forming many friendships through the years. When he wasn't fixing cars for family and friends, teaching his sons-in-law how to do electrical wiring and build decks and garages, he enjoyed fishing, golf, going to Bomber games and the annual March trips driving to Arizona and Palm Springs with Maud. The tent trailer that he designed and built allowed him to take his family on many road trips and spend time camping at Grand Beach. The family would like to thank the staff of Two South at Donwood Manor for their compassionate care of Ken. Interment and celebration of Ken's life has been held at a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory can be made to Parkinson Society Manitoba, 7-414 Westmount Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2J 1P2 (or by phone 204-786-2637 or on website).
