MARLENE YVONNE MARIE BRUCE (nee BUORS) December 16, 1951 - February 7, 2016 It is with incredible sadness that we announce the recent passing of Yvonne, 64 years of age, after she succumbed to illness at the Health Sciences Center. She fought with calm dignity, revealing unimaginable reservoirs of strength that kept us hopeful for so long. Yvonne is survived by daughters, Kim (Bobbie) and Kelly (Dwain); grandson, Laine; granddaughter, Camryn; mother, Therese; all of her brothers; sisters and their families along with her mother-in-law, Marcelline; brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Douglas; father, Julien; father-in-law, Frank; brother-in-law, Gerry; nephew, Shane and great- niece Oryanna. Mom is most remembered for her sharp sense of humour and extremely quick wit. The measured thoughtfulness that she employed in everything, especially matters of the heart, revealed her tremendous intelligence, her fierce love and unparalleled generosity. Mom loved all things Anne of Green Gables, had a great passion for music, loved her adventurous tours with Laine, loved the reflection of Camryn as her "mini-me" and never met a crossword she couldn't finish but truly, no words could adequately sum up the magnitude of her exquisite character. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 315 - 2nd Street East, Stonewall, Manitoba. A special thank-you to Dr. Eric Jacobsen for doing all he could for Mom. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Yvonne's name be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I remember Yvonne as a caring person with a good sense of humour. I was saddened to learn of her untimely passing. I enjoyed working with Yvonne at SMI and remember her dedication and work ethic. She will truly be missed by family and friends. My deepest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Ken Thomson (friend & co-worker) on: Feb 15, 2016

  • I had the pleasure of working with Yvonne in the late 1970's. Licence Plates included the caption "Friendly Manitoba". One day, Yvonne told me she got personalized plates for her car, and that her Mother was not impressed because the plate read "Friendly Yvonne". Can't help but think of that story when remembering Yvonne. R.I.P. - Posted by: Clare Eliuk (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2016

  • We met Yvonne when Kelly started dating and eventually married my little brother, Dwain. I could see how much she accepted and loved Dwain during our family get togetherness. She was always sharp witted and genuinely happy. I express deepest sympathy to Kelly, Dwain, Laine, Camryn, Kim and Bobbie. - Posted by: Darlene Lamoureux (Friend) on: Feb 11, 2016

  • I remember running into Yvonne and Doug when travelling up North on Hwy 6 at the Petrol Canada restaurant where they went for breakfast occasionally. They were very happy there and I hope they are happy where they are now. - Posted by: George Jackimec (Cousin) on: Feb 11, 2016

  • We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Yvonne's immediate and extended family. Although, we only met on a few occasions, I spoke to Yvonne numerous times during her difficult moments with Doug's illness and again later on when I was conducting my material research. Yvonne was a very open and genuine person once you got to know her. I will truly miss her. - Posted by: Joe & Anne Cyr (Friends) on: Feb 11, 2016

  • Laine, so sorry for your loss, your grandma was a great lady. She and I would always kid each other about having the same name and then I'd remind her that I had mine longer and she would smile. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. - Posted by: Marlene Bruce & Family (Cousin) on: Feb 11, 2016

  • To Yvonne's family We only had 1 year and 6 months as neighbors. Not nearly long enough. We developed a friendship just sitting on the step, going out for a meal, driving around, eating ice cream, most important our Thursday Card Games. We know she was a special lady with a big heart. We prayed for her recovery. God had other plans. So we thank-you Lord for the short time that Yvonne has been in our lives "Let Her Rest in Peace". We send our condolences. Kelly & Dwain should you require any help please call. In honour of your Mother we are there for you. Laine, Amma always had great things to tell us about her Grandson. Camryn,Amma always called you little Phee. As Grandchildren, she thought of you as the best. Treasure your memories make her proud. - Posted by: Leonard & Josie Lindley (next door neighbors & friend) on: Feb 11, 2016
