CHRISTINE HERRON
Date of Passing: Feb 10, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINE HERRON Christine Herron, 83, passed away on February 10, 2016 at her home in Ridgeland, South Carolina, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Millie and Walter Tyczynski in 1932, Chris married John Herron in 1959 and moved to Washington, DC to start their lives together. That life included three children, Steve, Barbara and Vernon. In addition to taking care of John and the children, Chris worked several positions outside the home in home decor, real estate and as an office assistant. In addition to her family, Chris had a true passion and talent for art and gardening. She was a multi-faceted artist, throwing pots on a kiln, making and selling jewelry and knitted scarves, mastering abstract and watercolour painting. In the latter part of her life, Chris became a master gardener, spending hours planting and tending to her many gardens. She learned how to hybridize her own day lilies, many now proudly displayed in gardens across multiple states. Chris was a loving wife, traveling companion and artistic partner to her husband John. They delighted in traveling the world together, enjoying fine foods and wines, attending operas and symphonies with their many friends. Chris was always the most gracious hostess to everyone in her life. To her children, she was a life coach, a best friend, their greatest fan and the most nurturing of mothers. Her life is a celebration of all that is good in this world - of a life well-lived, well-loved and a world made more beautiful for her being in it. Chris leaves behind her husband John, of 56 years; son Steve and daughter-in-law Teri, daughter Barbara and son-in-law Jon, son Vernon; grandchildren Dylan, Emily, April and husband James, Steve and wife Christy; great-grandchildren Logan and Avery; sister Joan Savage, and nephew Randy Herron. Chris will be celebrated with private memorial services hosted by her husband and children. They ask that you celebrate her life by enjoying a beautiful piece of art, by spending a few extra moments admiring a blooming flower, and by giving someone you love the warmest and most heartfelt hug. That was Chris' way. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LifeTides Institute, 330 Coosaw Way, Unit 46, Ridgeland, SC, USA 29936. Chris was passionate about the conservation and preservation of the natural beauty of the Low Country of South Carolina.
