Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL G. BERGLUND Emil G. Berglund passed away at the age of 98, at the Personal Care Home in Melita, MB on January 31, 2016. Emil was born February 10, 1917, in Fort William, ON. He was the son of Herman and Sigrid Berglund, who homesteaded in the Finmark Township near Thunder Bay. Emil married Alice Lofgren on March 23, 1940 and they remained forever sweethearts, celebrating 73 wonderful years together. They have two daughters, Carol and Elaine. Emil worked for the CNR for 38 years in Northern Ontario and Manitoba. In 1974, he and Alice moved back to Thunder Bay enjoying time with family and friends. Emil then spent 10 years using a wood slasher to cut log lengths and stack them for transport. He loved it. In 1998, he and Alice moved to Waskada, MB to be closer to their daughters, and later moved to the Melita Seniors Lodge. Emil is predeceased by his wife Alice; brothers, Edgar and Earl; sisters, Anne Salmonson, Margaret Leon and Ruth Carlson; brother-in-law Allan Lofgren and son-in-law Vaughn Ramsay. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Carol Ramsay, Elaine Potter; son-in-law Cliff Potter, four grandsons, five great-grandchildren; his sister Signe Ranta and sister-in-law Norma Berglund, both of Thunder Bay, and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at the Waskada Cemetery. A private service will be held this summer. If desired, donations can be made in memoriam to the Alzheimer's Society. Dad, we hold in our hearts so many cherished memories. We love you.
