DARLENE UNRAU (nee WEBER) Peacefully with her family by her side, Darlene passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the age of 66 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Harry; son Kristopher (Jody); mother Doris; mother-in-law Anne; sisters, Pat (John) and Chris (Trevor); brothers, Walter (Tracy), Lorne (Nadine); as well as many nieces; nephews; in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Bernice. Darlene was a passionate teacher for 35 years, mostly in the Seine River school division and was an inspiration to her students. Through teaching, she met her dear friend Jeanette who guided her through life. In retirement, Darlene continued to be a devoted faculty advisor helping student teachers reach their goals. She volunteered her time for many years in the art program with the Arthritis Society. She loved her winter getaways to Texas and the Caribbean and the many road trips to visit family and friends. Darlene was an amazing person who enjoyed life. She was a great role model and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a person of integrity, wisdom, compassion, strength of character, patience and faith. Even in her weakest moments while her health was failing, Darlene was more concerned with the well-being of her friends and family than herself. She will be dearly missed and remain forever in our hearts. A celebration of Darlene's life will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Boulevard at Grant Avenue, with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault P.H. presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. • It was my pleasure to work with Darlene, to learn from her kind and gentle ways with people (and her sense of humor), and to continue in later years as her friend. Darlene's personality and values are reflected in those she inspired; and they are passing this on to others. What a wonderful legacy! Harry, Kristopher, Jody, and other family and friends: please be comforted in memories of an exceptional person and a life well lived; and know that many people share your sorrow. - Posted by: Barbara Kelly (co-worker and friend ) on: Feb 15, 2016
