RICHARD PATRICK DEAN It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Dean, beloved husband, father and Papa on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the Victoria General Hospital. Richard was predeceased by his parents, William and Marion Dean and sisters, Ellen and Donna. He leaves to cherish his memory of 25 years, his loving wife Jackie; daughter Amber (Ricardo); son Derek and his two beautiful granddaughters, Isabella and Sofia, whom he cherished the most. His brother Robert; sisters, Rachael (Cameron), Cesha. In-laws, Murray and Barbara; sister-in-law Coleen (Alan); brothers-in-law, Charles (Darlene), Stephen (Dana) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Richard was born in Brandon, Manitoba. He began working in the hospitality industry when he was 15 years of age. He met the love of his life Jackie, they raised two beautiful children, Amber and Derek. After living in Brandon for a short time, the family settled in Winnipeg where Richard introduced the first "Little Caesars" Franchise to Winnipeg in 1993. After many years of dedication and hard work, he has grown his Little Caesars Empire to seven stores. His family is committed too and will carry on with the legacy he was so passionate about. He lived life to the fullest. Richard had a great sense of humour and had a quick wit about him. Richard made a lot of friends through the years. Many were life longtime friends and some were like brothers (you know who you are). Besides his love for his work, he loved spending time with his family. People called him many names, but his favourite was "Papa". His face lit up with joy whenever he could spend time with his beautiful granddaughters, Isabella and Sofia. A celebration of Richard's life will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Richard to the CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba. Family and friends wishing may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

  • My first friendship encounter with Richard was actually through one of his golf balls, which always landed in the middle of the fairway. As I passed his ball, usually a Taylor Made I noticed some markings on it. Being curious I rolled it over to see the full markings and there it was, a smiley face. Upon asking him "why the smiley face?" Richard casually remarked, 'why not, life's too short to live otherwise.' That sums up my feelings and thoughts about my brother. He truly was a joyous man. Richard you will be sorely missed! :) - Posted by: Garry Peters (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2016
