Date of Passing: Jan 10, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH W. KENT The family of Kenneth Kent sadly announces his passing on January 10, 2016, in Toronto. Ken is survived by his three children: Simon, Victoria and Alice; as well as seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Madeleine, Lindsay, Billie, Albert, Ana Lucia and Rex. He is also survived by his former wife of 36 years, Joan Coutts Kent. Ken was born in Cheshire, England in 1937, the only child of Herbert Kent and Mary Charlotte Williams Kent. He grew up at the Alvanley Arms, a country inn and dairy farm near Tarporley, Cheshire. He immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1957, at age 20 and later forged a successful career as a stockbroker in Toronto. A devoted family man, he encouraged his children in all aspects of their lives. A true Brit, Ken loved all things British - especially the Manchester United Football Team and The Sunday Times newspaper. His other interests included squash, cricket, hiking, gardening, bird-watching, photography and chess. Ken was outgoing, vibrant and charismatic with an often outrageous sense of humour, and a kind and caring heart. He was truly larger than life and we will miss him dearly. A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his daughter's home, at 86 Pendrith Street in Toronto from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the family invites you to attend. Donations in Ken's honour can be made to: torontofieldnaturalists.org

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

We were sad to read of Ken's passing. Many wonderful memories immediately rushed to mind, most of which were created at the Winnipeg Canoe Club, where we spent a lot of leisure time with a multitude of very special people on the tennis courts and in the bar. How fortunate we were! Ken was front and centre in that group. We certainly were a wild bunch! I was a recent arrival from Scotland, and Ken and I had many heated discussions about the "Scottish/English" situation. As was so well put in his obituary, he had an often outrageous sense of humour. We send our most sincere sympathy to his family, and a special "hello" to Joan. Connie and Rex Blamey Had to make mention of his Grandson, "Rex" - not a very common name!!! And to add to that, our daughter's name is Lindsay. - Posted by: Connie (nee Adair) and Rex Blamey (Friends from a VERY LONG TIME ago.) on: Mar 02, 2016
