ALMA ZEGHERS (nee LAGRANGE) June 22, 1922 - February 24, 2016 Peacefully at the Tiger Hill Health Centre in Treherne, Manitoba, Mrs. Alma Zeghers of Holland, Manitoba passed away at the age of 93 years. Alma leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory, her ten children, Elaine (Ed) Van Cauwenberghe, Albert (Joyce) Zeghers, Georgette (Harold) Gillis, Robert (Arlene) Zeghers, Betty (John) Wahl, Jim (Dana) Zeghers, Yvonne (Bill) Carlson, Donald (Krista) Zeghers, Jo-Ann (Craig) Day, Ed (Jackie) Zeghers; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2008; three grandchildren, Trevor Zeghers, Melanie Zeghers and Donna Van Cauwenberghe; one daughter-in-law Debbie Zeghers; and by two siblings Tryphon and Germaine both in infancy. Alma was born on June 22, 1922 at St. Alphonse, Manitoba, she was the only surviving child of George and Irma Lagrange. She lived in St. Alphonse for the first 15 years of her life, then her family moved to a farm just outside the town of Holland and then later into town. She married Arthur Zeghers in 1943, before his war duties in Vancouver and Yorke Island, B.C. and then overseas. After the war Arthur and Alma moved to Winnipeg, while he received treatment for war injuries. They then began farming with the Zeghers family for a few years, before finally moving back to Holland to farm with the Lagrange family. Once returning to Holland they purchased a farm north of Holland and lived there until retiring to Holland in 1982. She then moved to the Villa in Treherne when Arthur took ill and received care at the Tiger Hills Care home. She lived in the Villa for a year before moving into the Tiger Hills Personal Care Home. Funeral services will be held in the St. John Berchmans Roman Catholic Church in Holland, Manitoba on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Rosary at 10:40 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father José Montepeque officiating. Interment will take place after Mass at the Holland Parish Cemetery.
