It was with great sadness that Toni and I read about Bill's passing. We had spoken about him at Christmas and how it had been a while since we had been in touch. Bill gave me my first job at Banana Boat. I had stopped by on my way home from school and asked if I could submit a resume. I did see him conferring with my dad a few days later. I never knew if they were just chatting socially or if Bill was checking my references or asking my dad if it really was ok for me to work at Banana Boat. I learned a great deal about customer service and how to make great ice cream treats from both Bill and Diane. Hot Fudge and Banana milkshakes are still the best. I watched Nicki and Will grow up and managed to keep in touch for quite a while, until life took us all along different paths. Bill was always so helpful when my dad took ill. We always appreciated his support, friendly smile and Harry cherished their chit chats. Every good storyteller should have a good listener. Bill will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Nicki, Will and Family. - Posted by: Elisabeth Ostrop (Family friend (former employee)) on: Apr 07, 2016

Nicole and Will, I am so sorry to hear of your Dads passing. He was a true friend, mentor, supporter and example to me. I spent many hours working(some might say playing with cars) with Bill in the garage on Grover Hills Lane. He taught me many things along the way and always had his heart in the right place. I have many memory's, but will always remember your Dads grin as he drove the Lotus Formula car down the driveway around the bay and back in the garage. He was so proud of you both. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Murray Burkett (Friend) on: Mar 22, 2016

Hi Nicole and Will, I have just now heard of your dads passing. He gave me my first job as a university student and that is where I came to know him as a great example on how to live life. He was ever so proud of you both. He was one of a kind. Sincere condolences. Elva (Burkett) Delport - Posted by: Elva Delport (Friend/employee) on: Mar 22, 2016

To Nicole & Will, our hearts were saddened and heavy when we learned of the death of Bill, your Dad, and our dear friend. When we first immigrated to Canada and met Bill (& Diane) at church, we instantly became best friends. In a very short time we learned that Bill and I had many things in common. We spent many a day and many a night working on projects on our sport cars, basements etc. Many a happy hour was spent with him in the Banana Boat. Lots of thought and sweat was put into the business to get it ready for opening. What a success, but not without making many sacrifices for his family. Unfortunately certain life events changed our once close relationship, but the many years before will always be remembered and cherished forever. I learned so many new skills from your Dad which I have put to good use over the years. He will be sadly missed but we all will still have great memories from knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both at this very sad time. God Bless - Posted by: Grant & Betty Rodgers (Friends) on: Mar 07, 2016
