VICTOR LOEWEN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor Loewen on February 28, 2016, aged 80 years. He was predeceased by his wife Lily in 2013. He will be lovingly remembered by his four sons: Peter (Cheryl), Paul (Leanna), Mark (Marissa) and Rob (Jana); grandchildren: Erik, Lauren, Victoria, Arianna, Luke, Graham, Noam, Efram, Charlotte and Oscar; sister Margita Sudermann (Henry); brother-in-law Werner Pauls (Linda); and many relatives and life-long friends. He was born in Pavlograd, Ukraine on December 30, 1935. His early life was greatly affected by war, losing most of his relatives, including his father. In 1948, his family immigrated to Winnipeg. He married Lily Pauls in 1960 and together they lovingly raised four sons. They lived in Winnipeg, Uganda, and for 38 years on River Road in St. Andrews. They moved to Fred Douglas Place in 2010. Vic was a teacher. He had a natural curiosity, was a critical thinker and was uninhibited by convention. He fostered our love of learning, music, and nature through numerous canoe trips, cross-country skiing, sailing and the family cottage. Family was paramount for Vic. He was a devoted husband, dad, and opa. A special thanks to the staff at Riverview. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Donations can be made in Vic's memory to the Mennonite Central Committee.

Paul, Peter, Mark And Rob, It is with great sadness I read about this! In life many people make an impact on you, and your father, well he showed me what to be jealous over. A great man, who as stated was family to the most important degree. He showed what a father is. What a family is. I was and am so affected everyday in life from just watching and knowing this man. May he rest in peace and all of you accept my condolences. - Posted by: Chris Green (Neighbour ) on: Mar 12, 2016

Fondly remembering and mourning a dear, long time friend and staunch member of the "Gang of Five" and spending great times together; singing, having a beer; sharing, commenting on and discussing any and all personal and current affairs. Will miss your presence and contributions. George - Posted by: George Dyyck () on: Mar 05, 2016
