MARY (CLAEYS) MCKEAN (nee DEVRIES) February 27, 1939 - February 24, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary McKean. She was predeceased by her father (Gerhard) and mother (Geeske) and siblings, (Tena, Etta, Annie, John and Margaret) and brothers-in-law, Charlie, Bill, Verland and Albert. Mary was raised (eighth of 11 children) in Ochre River, MB. Mary was a hairdresser/friend/confidante to many over the course of 50 plus years in Ste. Rose du lac and Dauphin, MB. She enjoyed gardening, woodworking, antique re-finishing, leather work, camping, singing, volunteering and especially people watching. She was always full of life and ready with a cup of tea and some baking for unexpected guests. Her strong faith carried her through difficult times in her life. Despite all the health challenges she faced in recent years, she remained a constant inspiration to us all and leaves us with many treasured memories. Left to cherish those memories are her husband Charlie; daughters: Suzanne (Kurt) Toews, Beverly Claeys (Lon Flett) and Jeanine Rondinone (Brent Pokrant); grandchildren: Victoria, Brynn, Jordan, Natalina, Gerardo, Joe; and great-grandson Hayden; as well as sister Helen and brothers, Leonard (Irma), Herman (Karen), Gerald (Dorothy) and Bryon (Diane). Mary's Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m., at the Grace Baptist Church on Hwy. #5. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Mary McKean's name to the Parkland Humane Society.
