JOHN PAUL (JP) GUIBOCHE (SR) September 7, 1942 - March 7, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, papa, uncle, nephew, brother, brother-in-law, foster-parent and friend, John (JP) on Monday, March 7, 2016 at home at the age of 73. Dad is survived by his children Brian (Sharon) DeLaronde (their blended families, Tania Pelletier, Lance Fontaine, Marlene DeLaronde and Christopher Rundle and their families), Marlene Guiboche (Craig (Tammy and family) Guiboche, Paul Guiboche (Candace Sutherland, Jason Sutherland and their families), John Paul (JR) (Pam) Guiboche (Scott Beardy, Jillian Sanderson, Jonathan, Javian, and Jessica Traverse-Guiboche and their families), Charlene Guiboche (Chasity (Donny) Guiboche, Rochelle (Justin) Guiboche and Morley (Sam) Nelson and their families), Michelle Guiboche (niece and her family), Marcel Guiboche (nephew) he raised after the passing of their parents. His sister Diane Valade and her family, sister-in-law Lillian Devisser and her family and many foster children, relatives and friends. Waiting to greet Dad is his wife of over 50 years Bertha (2011) his parents Ernest and Catherine (Richard) Guiboche (1992 and 2015), his sister Dale (Delima) Guiboche (2016), brother Joseph Guiboche (1983) and many friends and relatives who passed before him. Dad was born and raised in St. Laurent, MB. and came to Winnipeg at a young age. Dad was a proud Ironworker (Local 728) and worked from "Coast to Coast to Coast", as he said when he told us his stories. Dad worked hard to provide for his family at a job he loved until he retired after more than 28 years as a proud "Steelman". He had a hand in building most of the structures in downtown Winnipeg, all over Manitoba and across Canada from the 1960s until his retirement in the late 1990s. Dad's great joy and love was for his grandchildren and then his great-grandchildren. His little Neena (Cayleena) really made his day when she visited and he was always asking about Craig. Thank you to Charlene, who stayed with Dad after Mom's passing and then cared for him after he became ill, the Health Care Aids and Nurses who attended to him in his final months, MA MA WI WI CHI ITATA Centre, (King Street location) for their support and generosity and Craig for designing and making Grandpa's presentation cards. Prayers will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Kateri Tekakwitha Aboriginal Roman Catholic Parish, 794 Ellice Avenue at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Kateri on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. We invite everyone to join us for lunch in the lower level after the service. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Marlene DeLaronde, Craig Guiboche, Christopher Rundle, Jason Sutherland, Morley Nelson and Javian Traverse-Guiboche. Words are few, thoughts are deep, Memories of you we will always keep. Dad we love you and will miss you. Tell Mom we miss and love her.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Condolences to JP's family. My memories of JP, my first cousin: He was a fun and witty guy and we had a lot of laughs. I remember him doing the limbo while my sister and I held the broomstick - we have the photos to prove it. It was the sixties. My dad Sheriff and JP were often together in the same camps when they worked as iron-workers. JP was a hard working man. Rest in Peace John Paul - love your cousin Carol Coutu - Posted by: Carol Coutu (cousin) on: Mar 15, 2016
