LOUIS HOLUBOWICH It is with great sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of our father Louis on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Louis was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2005. He was also predeceased by two brothers and five sisters. Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his six children Martha (Brian), Margaret (Ken), Alvin (Patricia), Dennis, Violet, David (Carmen); six grandchildren Jason (Angela), Andrew (Christine), Eric, Layne (Joey), Brandon and Kyle; three great-grandchildren James, Aarun and Madison. He is also survived by his brother Albert in Myrnam, Alberta. Louis was born in Myrnam, Alberta on May 15, 1925. He was a cook at a logging camp in Ontario and worked at Weston Bakeries for many years. Louis then began his journey as an entrepreneur. He owned a restaurant, became a landlord, started the Landlord Association, sold Christmas trees, started his demolition company and purchased a farm in West St. Paul to pursue his love of farming. Louis never really retired; going to auction sales with his dog was his passion. Through his hard work he was a good provider for his family. Dad enjoyed his summer road trips back to Alberta to visit with many family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to Ukrainian music and going to polka party dances. He also loved animals. Many thanks to the caring staff at Middlechurch Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg MB R3T 0R3. Sorry to hear the loss of Mr. Holubowich. Our daughter always looked forward to making her Christmas craft in Sparks/Brownies & Girl Guides to present it to him at Middlechurch Home when they would go sing at Christmas time. Sending thoughts & prayers your way at this tough time - Posted by: Jason & Cheryl Somack (Friends of Dave) on: Mar 15, 2016

So sorry for your loss. So grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and share time with Louis. I am sure that we can never listen to a "heel-toe" polka without thoughts of Louis and how he liked to dance with Martha to that one! Even though our association was brief, it was a memorable one. - Posted by: Rose Plischke and Larry and Debbie Okolita (would share a table at the Old Time Dance in Beausejour) on: Mar 13, 2016
